A farewell function held at the Royal Hotel to seven Hospitality and Tourism students airborne to the Republic of China. This is the 12 months programme to Hospitality and Tourism students in the Republic of China. The students will be embarking on an international WIL (Work Integrated Learning) programme. This is the SETA funded programme to all TVET Colleges in South Africa. These seven students met the required criteria in order to be part of the WIL programme. Seven Mnambithi TVET College students will be jetting off to China as part of a scholarship programme that will equip the students with the necessary skills and experience to better their chance of being employed in the future.
A South African Agency and a Chinese Agency have afforded these students this opportunity to leave for China in October 2018 and they will be back next year in October 2019. They will be part of a group of 200 South African students that will be studying in China in Hospitality and Tourism. They will be doing six months of university and theoretical training at Beijing Union University while the other six months will see them gain practical experience on Hospitality and Tourism fields.
On his speech, Phelelani Ndlovu said “In trying to keep on grazing in bad territories, I choose the academics and by far I have no regrets but take pride in my decision”. I have realized that passion, dedication and effort can take you far and make dreams come true, respect being one of the core factors guiding you to success, said Phelelani.
College Deputy Principal: Corporate Services Ms Zenobia Mazibuko said, “The College is excited to be able to have such great international partnerships that will not only benefit the College but the students themselves. With this support, these seven students will be able to grow their skills-set and become more employable within the Hospitality and Tourism they are part of.” This is the first time the college placed students in the foreign country. Special thanks went to Hospitality and Tourism Lecturers for it is with their effort and dedication to the Services program that Mnambithi TVET College can send ambassadors as far as China, this definitely puts the College on the map.
