Carpentry

3 Months

• Provide primary emergency care/first aid as an advanced first responder.
• Prepare and install open shelving.
• Prepare and fit tongue and groove wall panelling.
• Prepare and erect a timber framed partition.
• Fit and hang a single door to a framed partition.
• Cut and fit architrave and skirting.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding.
• Set out and construct a nail plate/bolted howe-roof truss.
• Set out and erect gable roof trusses.
• Erect an I-shaped roof.
• Clad a roof structure with concrete tiles.
• Clad a roof structure with corrugated galvanised sheeting.
• Prepare and erect brandered ceiling and install insulation.
• Machine components for a straight flight of stairs with newel posts.
• Assemble a straight flight of stairs with balustrade and newel posts from machined material and fit the staircase.
• Fabricate, erect and strip formwork for straight walls, columns and bases.
• Fabricate, erect and strip steel and timber form-work for T-wall, decks, beams and single flight staircases.

To register for a Short Skill Course, you need a minimum of Grade 10 pass.

Registration:

Students register three times in the year (trimesters)

• Practical - 3 Months.
• Practical Experience (Learnership) - 24 Months

Career Opportunity:

National Diploma - 3 Months Theory plus 24 Months Practical (Learnership) Experience.
