Students with Special Needs

Students with special needs are to be accommodated within the scope of the College, so long as the disability does not pose a threat to the well-being of the student or fellow students during programme delivery.  The latter would apply, for example, in the case of a blind candidate wishing to enrol for a course reliant on dangerous heavy machinery where sight is imperative for the execution of the task.

Special learning needs can be accommodated via a scribe (on application to the Department of Higher Education and Training) and permission being granted.  This is dependent on submission of a professional learning history.  The additional costs incurred shall be at the expense of the student.

Physical needs will be accommodated wherever possible.  If this accommodation should incur costs on the running of the entire course, the student is to bear the cost.  An example of this would be Braille keyboards for the blind or computer screen protectors for epileptics, etc.
